My visit lastnight to riverside was such a waste of time. I was feeling so miserable. The Nurse I had was so friendly and she made me laugh, on the other hand the PA Kristen acted as if she was tired of seeing me and as if she was trying to get me in in out. Just told me I probably had a cold and I feel like she didn't take my visit seriously. Maby it's because I don't have insurance! She's not friendly at all!

We have been here since 10:20 and it’s now 11:01. We have seen one staff member standing around since we got here and when I had asked why one individual had gone ahead of us, an employee had told me, without making any eye contact, that they take each patient by [how serious each case is]. It is basic human decent that when you speak to someone you make direct eye contact. Not doing so makes one feel inferior and not valued. My boyfriend is scared and anxious as to what might be wrong with him. This is not okay.

DO NOT BE SEEN HERE!! They do not care about you and your health.... they skip over you and make you wait hours for no reason!!! I Believe billing is more important than humanity to this hospital and their staff!! I’m definitely filing a complaint to the medical board.... I already made complaints to charge nurse and her boss just to be lied to and then bring up hippa laws. But, at the same time telling me about procedures that were done to previous patient that went in and walked out while still waiting in waiting room!! No privacy, no care, no answers and not honest!!

I have honestly never really had a bad experience at the Riverside Doctors Hospital ER in Williamsburg, mostly good ones. The nurses and paramedics are great—both men and women—and the doctors have been fine. At Sentara, I have honestly been made to feel as if I was a second-class citizen and felt as if we were condescended to and stereotyped (you poor people can wait or are unimportant sort of thing even though I’m a minority with a PhD), or mistreated in the past. I was actually misdiagnosed as having had a miscarriage at Sentara (my baby is now 3) and was never offered an apology by the Williamsburg Sentara hospital when I informed them of what happened. I should have sued them. Their (Sentara) ER doctor had tried to get me to to schedule an abortion at her office—even though my sweet little baby was still alive.

I have not ever felt at the Riverside ER that they did not care about me or my children. They listen, find out what is wrong as best they can and treat it. My wait has almost always been hours shorter at Riverside’s ER than at Sentara (Sentara’s ER by the way was in chaos and utter disorganization tonight when I went to take my little boy tonight for something minor; they were closer and I thought I ‘d give them another chance until I saw how long the wait was for everyone and the woman at the front desk could not even find a wristband. I thankfully relented and went to Riverside. My son and I were in and out in a couple of hours start to finish at Riverside Doctors Hospital ER—even though they were busy.)

At Riverside’s ER in Williamsburg, I’ve felt as if the doctors and all the nurses did the best they could to assist us each time—so I drive 15 minutes further away to avoid the bad bedside manner, somewhat racist, and overall poor quality visits I have had at Sentara Williamsburg. For ER visits in Williamsburg, I think everyone should choose Riverside over Sentara. (I love Sentara’s Heart Hospital in Norfolk and they’ve saved lives in my family—but that reputation should not automatically port to the Sentara ER in Williamsburg because their quality, at least as I and my husband both have experienced it, is so much lower.) Go to Riverside Doctors Hospital ER if you can for a much better experience.

I had a terrible experience at the Riverside Doctors' Hospital in Williamsburg, VA. I was diagnosed with a severe case of pericarditis, but they never really treated it properly. The doctors there prescribed a medicine that made me violently ill, and when I asked for something else they said there was nothing else. After five weeks of agony, I went to my hometown of Rochester, NY to see a cardiologist where I immediately got a different medicine that worked wonders. Why couldn't they do that in Williamsburg?
