The staff and some of the doctors especially the female physicians are very kind, professional, and attentive to all issues. They give their all to help patients feel comfortable and in the very worst times of your life they just are able to get right to the heart of the matter and treat you immediately. Most of the staff are very thorough and dont miss a beat. Some of the staff respect all people from all walks of life andd with all manner of issues. Now only 3 stars because its also the other staff more male doctors who treat you disrespectful and treat you with the worst professional manner ever. If you have any mental diagnosis what so ever id say go to wilcox because you'll have a better chance of the doctors there trying harder to at least hide their problem with people with mental handicaps. Again mostly the male doctor at Mahelona Hospital ER. Not the females they are really okay and work hard to hear you out and help you with what's going on.
As far as the clinic side and physical therapy side. They are all amazing and helpful and the best doctors in the islands work there. Some would argue the best in the country work in the clinical side. They have long term care and psychiatric care long term as well but I wouldn't dare go into the care of that psych ward unless your looking for some serious help but even then.. The staff on purpose try to instigate trouble and try to make you upset and hurt on purpose. People are seriously mistreated by the psychiatric staff. But.. Their doctor is amazing and great at what he does.
All places have their issues and troubles but they take it to a new level there!
But overall still have some amazing doctors so its worth a try..

I have severe back problems and I had to stand up or sit in an uncomfortable chair to fill out the forms. With pain level at 10 the receptionist made sure I stayed and filled it out before being helped. Got a bed in the hallway next to old book shelves and equipment. Nurse gave me an anti inflammatory shot and I was left alone. Still in pain and confused as to, "is this it...are we done"? So I got up in pain and limped out. I almost fell to ground from the pain at the steps outside. Only until my ride came, the nurse finally came out and asked "are you okay"? I ended up going straight to Wilcox where they have an MRI machine and their specialist said I needed surgery.

Great hospital and staff. They are reassuringly confident, concerned, efficient and in a word...proffesional! Patient centric care, and will address concerns, diagnose and treat right away and have you back out ASAP! Best emergent care experience I've ever had. Would recommend over any other hospital.
Go hear for exceptional care!

As I’m sitting in the waiting room a man walks in with his hand sliced down the middle bleeding out. NOBODY helps him for 25 mins. All of the other patients begged the doctors and staff to have him seen before them. They still took someone else before he was seen. Unbelievable.

I was seen at the emergency room, which makes it easier for a lot of people who live on the east side of the island than having to fight traffic to drive to Lihue. Unbeknownst to me, they are able to care for patients needing extending care in a hospital setting. Usually reserved for assisted care, they do have a few private and/or semi private rooms. I had to be admitted. I was given the choice to go to a larger hospital in Lihue, but chose to stay.
In the five days I had to be hospitalized, I received excellent care from friendly and knowledgeable staff who were willing to go the extra mile to make sure I felt at ease.
