I’m not entirely sure what my insurance was billed for. I came in twice, both times with the same complaint. I couldn’t keep food down, my whole body ached, and I was hot on and off. I had been this way for a week. The first time, you had me pee in a cup. One of your nurses drew blood, and couldn’t quite find a vein. She kept poking in the general area and when I left, my arm made it look like I was a heroin junkie. To make it worse, she asked my friend, who had brought me there, to get needles for her from the cabinet. You told me I had a UTI, and sent me away with a prescription for an antibiotic. I came back the next day because I was in so much pain in my whole body that my boyfriend couldn’t touch me. I couldn’t open doors on my own. Nothing could touch me. Even my clothes hurt. You told me it must be an adverse reaction to my antibiotic. You didn’t bother doing any tests. Not even having me pee in a cup. You prescribed a different antibiotic and told me to take Tylenol (I told you this hadn’t helped). Nothing helped. My body was swollen, and my skin was on fire.
I ended up in Munson in Cadillac (yes, my friend drove me that far for proper care). They were kind, avoided the arm your nurse messed up, drew blood in a professional manner, took me for an ultrasound of my abdomen and gave me pain meds while we waited (which was such a relief, let me tell you). Turns out my gallbladder needed taken out.
My gallbladder was removed within the week with a surgeon in GR, and it turned out there was already a hole in it. So, needless to say, I will not be back. My friends won’t be back either. You’re a useless excuse for an ER.
I had a text sent to my phone stating to confirm my appointment. I went there and it turns out I didn't need to go because I already had the same procedure done in February. The office lady was real nice about it. They need to be aware of things like this.
To start, the Emergency reception lady was rude to us. We stood approximately 5 feet back from the patient in front of us and through her glass window she managed to squeak out, "please stand behind the sign" , and pointed upward. She said something about privacy, LMAO. Seriously, no one can see that sign to begin with. We took stepped back 2 feet so we were behind the sign that is attached to the ceiling.... funny enough we couldn't hear her but we were able to hear the patient give his info loud and clear. It seems like she was only trying to protect her privacy and clearly no one else.
When we got to the window, which had the familiarity of a gas station in a bad neighborhood, we couldn't even hear her and she refused to speak up. She was sure to make my wife say her full name outloud and date of birth twice for everyone around to hear quite clearly.
When did this hospital become a business as opposed to a patient treating facility?!?! The "bedside manner" of a lot of people here is atrocious. I don't understand why it seems they will hire just anyone. Why cant they screen these people for "people skills"? That is an essential part of any good busineess.
I really wish we got her name.
Honestly, if you have the capacity to get to another hospital, I would highly recommend it.
I do feel bad for the few that work here that are great do work with and this review may somehow effect them, but mostly I want positive effects from this review and enough people to share this.
Whoever it is that reads your test results over the phone to you are completely unprofessional.
If possible, drive to grand rapids. I've been misdiagnosed and had so many mistakes happen at this hospital that it is laughable. I had repeat ER visits that would not have been necessary at all if they had done things correctly the first time but instead they make large assumptions to come to a diagnosis. Went to grand rapids and the problem was correctly identified, solved, and mentioned that it should have been handled earlier ALL IN ONE VISIT. When charges were disputed they recognized that I wouldn't have had to come at all if they had acted correctly the first visit but ultimately said "but you still came back" so you get to pay for still coming back. Terrible medicine and terrible customer service.
