Spectrum Health United Memorial – United Campus

My wife and I both work in healthcare. My wife was just admitted to the ER. She has been throwing up uncontrollably and having panic attacks. This has been an ongoing problem for the last 2 years. She has been diagnosed with cyclic vomiting. The first nurse who instilled my wife's IV flat out lied to her and told her they could treat her vomiting with Zofran, but there was nothing they could do for the panic attack. She refused my wife treatment for the panic attack until I spoke up and told them she already has an Rx for panic attacks at home. Then all of a sudden magically they could treat it. 5 minutes after they gave her medication and turned down the lights for her to try to go to sleep, they woke her back up to ask for a $150 copayment? and now she is vomiting again. Why? I AM FURIOUS! Why couldn't this wait until check out? We have been here for this around a dozen times the last 2 years and I have never seen a total lack of compassion like the one being shown here today. I hate having to come here.

received no help walking to the bathroom even though i was incredibly disoriented and could barely walk. staff watched me cling to the wall to get there while they all just talked casually among themselves. some staff are nice some are incredibly rude and mean. night staff just suck. they need more training, especially with trans people

They have treated me very well and rushed me right back into ER when I got here and have been very kind and helpful during my whole hospital stay. Staff has been awesome! Thank you to all of you who helped me through a very scary time.

They just don't get much more heartless and myopic than SHUMC!

Doctors in the emergency room were great but the nurses were rude.
