I went to the ER because I could not bend my finger after cutting it with a kitchen knife. Dr. Stephanie Davis took a cursory glance at it and decided it was not deep enough to be the tendon. I asked if she was going to do any type of exam and she said it was not necessary, that it would get better over time. Okay, whatever. I don’t have a medical degree, so I’m not in a position to know about requisite tests for various injuries. After several days, I was still unable to bend it, so I followed up with my primary who referred me to a specialist who said it WAS the tendon and that it was basically too late to do anything. And the patient advocate pretty much said I was screwed because discharge paperwork said to follow up in 48 hours, although I was explicitly told by Davis to disregard those instructions and follow up in a week if I still couldn’t move my finger. I mean, I get that it’s just a finger, right? A pinkie finger, at that. Not the end of the world, obviously. But it still sucks that I’ll never have a complete grip in my dominant hand again just because the doctor didn’t take the time to provide proper treatment.
My wife had to make an emergency appointment in the labor and delivery department today. We were pretty nervous when we arrived, but we were so happy to be greeted by two young men at the valet stand outside the entrance. Mitchell and Evan were both polite and extremely helpful. They smiled and Mitchell was very friendly when Evan literally ran when it was time to retrieve our vehicle. We would have obviously preferred to not have had to rush to the doctor today, but I thought it worth noting that Mitchell and Evan really did a great job today.
-Check-In and Nursing staff were personable.
-They accepted my insurance.
- I did not see a doctor for TWO HOURS. I went in at 3 pm and did not see a doctor until 5:05 pm. I waited to be called in by a nurse for 20 min, gave a urine sample and waited in another room for 40 minutes, went to the patient room and answered a few questions for the nurse (25 min) and then waited in a gown on the bed for 35 minutes to see a doctor.
-I was entered in to the system by two different nurses at two different times (one came in about 5 minutes after the first). I told both of them the same information. I also told them I wanted a flu shot, which I never received.
-The doctor was cold and made me uncomfortable while performing a very personal and slightly painful exam.
-They sent me a link where I could leave a review of my experience and in order to access it I had to enter by birthdate. I did. It responded with "The date of birth entered does not match our records."
I will be looking elsewhere for future medical needs.
They are horribly rude, dont make note of appointments especially if you cancel or change it, and their billing department has no idea what they are doing. I was told I do not owe the hospital any money and I have now received two Bill's with different amounts owed.
The lack of professionalism and ability at this hospital is astonishing.
There’s nothing like being at the end of the ER area as a patient having to listen to employees talk and laugh loudly, cussing and complaining about their jobs while you’re in pain and trying to stay calm. Very unprofessional and obnoxious. The three hour wait didn’t help matters.
