This is my first positive medical/emergency experience in many years. For decades, after every hospital visit, I have been left with the feeling of being chewed up and spit out by the system. This time was different. The individual attention from the doctors and nurses was unexpected and appreciated. I will not hesitate to take myself, or loved ones to St. Vincent's ER......
Took my son in with symptoms of pulmonary edema from the altitude. Pretty scary thing for flatlanders that live at 1000 feet. They were unusually busy according to the nurses, but did a great job finding space to get us triaged and treated in less than an hour. Moreover, the nurse (Leroy) and the doctor (didn't catch his name) were really friendly and did a wonderful job explains the problem and treatment to my anxious son. Well done.
Went in to check out a cough. The doctor ordered $600 of tests. Went in to get tested with some blood work. Doctor ordered $1000 of tests. This hospital is horrible at ordering expensive tests and the billing lady was horrible. She pretty much told me "your poor so you can't get treated". No financial aid or help for those without money. AVOID THIS HOSPITAL IF YOU CAN!
Bigger than it looks
