I was the only person in the emergency room @ about 2am. I came in because I couldn't stop throwing up, fever, chest hurting, dizzy, not peeing well (told them I had just stopped peeing altogether the week before) ...after telling this to 8 or 9 different people. They still came in and dramatically would ask in the most animated way you could talk down to anyone. What brings you HERE (WAVING ARMS) at this time of the morning? I would proceed to tell my symotoms...and they'd say no no no...what brought you HERE.... finally I said I begged not to come here. The guys who picked me up (who were great might I add) told me everyone had requested to go to the other two hospitals I chose and they were very busy and I would be seen quicker in Pell City. So I went. They didn't do anything. Thank the Lord above I puked in the ambulance and they gave me a shot of zofran. As I'm trying to tell these people at Pell City answers to questions I could easily answer at anytime, I was dazed and confused...I found out later was a side effect of the zofran....but all I got was aggravated questions and replies that I was drug seeking or in withdrawals. The cab ride home, this man said everyone he picks up says the same thing. He told of their stories and his own experiences. They were worse than mine. So, if you are sick.... do not go there. . ..... "

My daughter was in a car wreck. While she was 17, all of the air bags went off and the EMTs called for the older lady in the other car said she should go to the ER to be checked out. Make sure nothing else was wrong, right? Logical, so we went. They got her back in a reasonable time for someone showing no obvious symptoms. They did no testing, but checked her out and saw no signs that there was something wrong. Give us advice on what to be on the lookout for. So forth. And THEN they filed the insurance with a diagnosis of anxiety, meaning it is a mental health claim and not a medical claim. Seriously? Anxiety over having had half a dozen air bags go off in her face. Anxiety over the EMT saying she needed to be cleared by a doc before we took her home. 10 months now and we still don’t have it all settled out. I hate ER’s, but I especially hate it when they lob stupid diagnoses at things. Color me irritated. We are unlikely to ever use this ER again.

So your ER doctor thinks it's OK to denigrate a senior citizen? I won't go into the full story because it's useless waste of my time. What a horrible emergency room. I suppose St. Vincent's and Pell City administrators are just as incompetent as the people they employ... or.... just as incompetent as the people they employ. What other explanation? Idiocy is a sickening state of affairs in Pell City and at St. Vincent's.

After my husband's car accident on a December Sun afternoon, we were pleased with the care he received in the ER.
In our recent visits to their diagnostic testing area, we were impressed by the cleanliness and by their professionalism and promptness.
