Wouldn’t you Like to know

My review is for the OBGYN office on Charlotte Street. Today was my first time going here. I have nothing but nice things to say about my experience. I got in quickly. My doctor, Dr. Reynolds was very nice and transparent. I was originally unsure about having a man doctor for lady stuffs but his nurse, Carmella immediately put me at ease. I have nothing but praise for Carmella. I absolutely adored her and I’m glad she will be with me throughout my pregnancy. I’m glad I picked Truman and I hope my next experiences are as good!

My primary told me to come to Truman because of liquid on my lung, eventhough its not part of his medical group. I received amazing care. My two doctors, Dr Shore & Dr Patel, were great. They gave a damn about my care and can't thank them enough. Also my nurse Connie made me feel as comfortable as could be.

They responded to my negative review almost immediately..but still don't take my word or that if my insurance company regarding the contract amount..still insisting it is higher than what they are allowed. Also no mentions of a patient advocate number or additional help. Just a canned response. Terrible for a county hospital. Get any diagnostics or tests..especially MRIs elsewhere. They bill high enough to cover those who don't pay..despite tax breaks and non-profit status.

Only 2 stars because 1 would not seem genuine and well thought out. Long story short: 1.) Their billing takes forever. 2.) Fees are not transparent. 3.) Service (docs and admins) was unpleasant. Details: I walked myself into ER one day in early March. They checked vitals and sat me in room for 2 hrs before first doctor came in. He gave me IV and a pill and said we should do some scans to be safe. I waited another 2 hrs for them to do scans. Scans done they parked me back in room for 2 more hrs before telling me results. Everything fine... phew. After this episode they offered to set me up with doctor in hospital. Hours were not flexible so I take some time off work only to wait for an hour in room until doctor comes in. In general, she was a nice person but was not a good listener. Just kept telling me her possible theory’s about my overall wellness while I was attempting to tell her my history and lifestyle. She says I should take ALL labs to be sure. Admin left me message to discuss results from labs. I call back to get them via phone but they tell me it’s NOT emergency but I still have to schedule appt and take time off work... again. I come back and she tells me a marker is off but not really concerning. She just wants to tell me to schedule another followup in few months to check again. I ask why this conversation could not have been done over the phone. She did not enjoy the feedback. Finally, bills begin to roll in. Actually, a total of 7 different bills for these events over 5 months trickled in. Remember that one I said could be done over the phone that I took off work? $167. Let me break this down: ER Visit: 3 different bills for 3 different doctors. 1 gigantic bill for the hospitals cut (easiest $5k they made that day) Followup Doctor: 1 big one for all the new labs 2 for office visits I’d contemplate dying next time before going back.

My father has been in Truman for almost 4 weeks and he has received excellent care. He has been in a regular room and in two different ICU units and all of the nurses have been helpful and attentive, the social workers were also very helpful, the doctors are knowledgeable. This hospital definitely gets a bad reputation because of the emergency room but our experience has been nothing but positive. I’m beyond pleased with his care.
