The worst hospital I've ever seen in life. None of the staff knows how to poke you with a needle to draw blood they will keep looking you in the same spot and blow your veins. They have random people walking in and out your room which don't seem to know anything about anything when you have questions. Left me with a couple scars. Each time I've asked for something they say okay and never come back nothing gets done. The wait time is ridiculous. Im surprised a hospital like this even exist.

Me and my 10 year old sister went in with my mom who went unconscious and ended up having a brain bleed. They gave up and told us she was gonna die. They didn’t even tell us to hope for the best, but we have to prepare for the worst. They said “your moms not died now but will be” We ended up moving her and she’s alive and leaving her best life with no complications. She’s in rehab and will be home and at work in 2 weeks!

So far this has been a great hospital. We are going for prenatal care, and will likely have the delivery here also. Sometimes they are running behind, but as far as the staff, they are nice and respectful. I've never been here for ER situations, but since this is a state funded trauma center, I probably wouldn't go here unless it was absolutely necessary. I imagine that they have someone in the ER that just got shot or stabbed, and whatever I needed help with would be able to wait.

If you're looking for an ER for something non-life threatening, I would suggest another hospital, North KC, Research, etc.

My children and I waited over 4 hours for me to be seen for a lupus flare and they gave me a narcotic pain pill which I did not even complain about pain and then told me I would have to see my lupus doctor for meds when I disclosed several times that I do not have a pcp or lupus doctor. Then they let me leave and drive.
Terrible on people skills or caring for patients

Patient service is absolute garbage, nurses do not know anything about the hospital they work in, or seem to not know what is happening. I recommend whoever gets taken, get transferred to a hospital they know and trust. We had to sign an EMA because they said there wouldn’t be a doctor that would take her anywhere once we requested a transfer. She proceeded to use scare tactics on my wife to get her to stay in the hospital. Waited 30+ minutes after, for a wheel chair to get my wife out of the hospital that I asked for once OBGYN was in the room while she said “Oh you’ll get one it’s not like we just toss you guys out.” No one seemed to care at all. Came to the emergency room at a different hospital last night and this morning we already have the diagnosis. Which would’ve taken much longer at Truman. Terrible experience and will never recommend this place to anyone I know or love.
