This is a mixed review. I came here for a colonoscopy. The doctors and nurses were very attentive and helpful. The prep, procedure and and recovery rooms were clean and well lit. My procedure was quick and painless. What was not painless was the billing. I was told that the anesthesiologist accepted my insurance. They did not. The 'registration' clerk told me she had had checked my insurance and that I would receive a discount if I paid up front what the insurance would not cover. When I received the explanation of benefits (EOB) from my insurance company, the clerk had over billed me for the amount that was disallowed by the hospital's contract with the insurance company. The insurance company said I should not have paid what the clerk asked and that the 'discount' a deceptive pressure tactic. The insurance company will not intervene, the hospital has my money and I cannot get a refund. DO NOT EVER sign anything, or pay ANYTHING, to this hospital before your insurance provider processes your claim. This hospital cheats!
A very clean and pleasant place. The staff was friendly and helpful. My good friend was receiving treatment and they were very happy. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable.
My brother laid in pain for 3 1/2 hours before relief.. In this emergency room a doctor saw him even though he is high risk patient .. he just had open heart surgery last month & bladder surgery 5 days ago...only attended to by a physician assistant & nurses. Where are the doctors in an emergency room ?
I am a former employee at St Joe's in the ED. The ED is an awful place to work and dangerous for patients especially if you are a psych, substance abuse, homeless patient or person of color. I was wrongfully let go of my employment because I spoke up about the verbal and physical abuse of the patients named above. Me and a fellow colleague we're both constantly verbally bullied and put down due to our disabilities, and there is terrible racial discrimination towards the African American staff. The ED is so dirty and outdated, but they dont care because it is all about making money to them. I have mentioned everything to my manager, HR, compliance, and executive staff. Nothing was done about it. Instead a fellow colleague lied on me so my employment could be terminated because yes, I whistleblew. The ACLU has been notified, and hopefully a real full unbiased investigation will be done.
Update on my my review: The EEOC maryland branch, OSHA and other state agencies are interested in my case. They agree I experienced workplace bullying, wrongful termination and discrimination. Anyone following this post I will update at will. Thanks for your support.
I had a cardiac catheterization at St. Joseph's yesterday. This is a first rate medical facility. The procedure was performed by Dr. Shumile Zaidi. From the moment I walked in and was greeted by a wonderful nun, who's name I can't recall, the registration folks were so nice. My nurse Laurie prepped me for the procedure, and the operating room nurses Joey and Jason, and all the other team members of Dr. Zaidi were outstanding. I highly recommend this facility.
