I visited the UM Charles Regional Medical Center on Friday,September 21, 2018, the admitting staff and triage staff were very kind and compassionate, the kindness and compassion went DOWN from there. We were taken to a room in the back and the nurses were very nice. They took vitals and explained the events that were going to take place next. FINALLY in comes the Doctor with THE WORST BEDSIDE MANNER EVER!!!!!! Dr. Jennifer Rice was rude and was very nonchalant about the symptoms of the patient. We suggested they should take x-rays and after about just sitting there with no information other than an occasional nurse walking by an x-Ray technician showed up to take x-rays. Then after another 2 hours I stepped out in the hallway to ask a woman at the desk (with green scrubs) if she knew where Dr. Rice was and with out looking up to acknowledge me she simply said “no:”. I then asked if she could find her she acted like she contacted someone and said they waiting on test results, seemed like a generic answer. Eventually one of the NICE nurses stopped by and said they waiting on x-ray results. After being in the hospital for 4 hours we left. Oh did I mention there were only like 2 and we were one of the 2 patients listed under Dr Rice name. I agree with some of the other reviews that this hospital is in desperate need of some help, could start with customer service training (try the module Verizon uses they have excellent customer service) and some folks might need to be fired.
Very fast and professional staff. I was attended to within 15minutes of entering the ER. Was in a room in 25 minutes. Had blood tests and down to ultrasound in 30 minute. The ER nurses and ultrasound tech were very nice and professional. The doctor came to see me when I got back to the room and explained everything and was not in a rush. He listened to everything I said. I highly recommend this hospital. Being from out of town wasn't sure what to expect. The staff gave me all the follow up information I needed to get to see a specialist. I would give them a 10 if I could. I have been in different hospitals in NJ and Florida, I never got this type of service and caring from those hospitals.
Took my mother here to the emergency side of the hospital last night 10/18/2018 the doctor only spoke with us for 5 minutes and never was seen again he assumed she had episodes of bronchitis which is not the case with her medical history and especially when she was throwing up blood. He didn’t even touch her or examine her at all! He just went by what he was told didn’t even try to get down to the bottom of it. Nobody did any blood work and never even told us what came back on the X-Ray we had to ask. Felt like it was a waste of time. Doctor Frazier seemed like he didn’t give a damn or tried to help at all.
Terrible hospital....the wait is more than four hours and still waiting now to be seen. You might do better if you go to a veterinarian hospital, where the people are compassionate and caring. Not even worth one star, but you have to put something in order to rate them.

So far I’ve only gotten blood work done but Marty, the man who took my blood was awesome. He was so funny and nice and you could tell he genuinely liked his job. He sang to me while he took my blood work, it was the funniest thing ever. He made me feel relaxed and at ease. Thanks Marty!
