Compass Behavioral Health in Garden City, Kansas, experienced a data breach that was reported on February 28, 2023. The breach involved the compromise of an employee’s email account and associated OneDrive account. The incident was discovered on or around December 13, 2022, when it was found that unauthorized access had occurred. A forensic investigation revealed that a spreadsheet containing incident reports was accessed. This spreadsheet included sensitive information such as names, addresses, dates of birth, dates of death, treatment locations, medical record numbers, information related to medical incidents, limited medical information, and medication information. In response to the breach, Compass Behavioral Health changed credentials and implemented multi-factor authentication to enhance security. There have been no reports of actual or attempted misuse of the exposed information. The breach affected 537 patients[1][7].
