On December 30, 2022, L. Knife & Son, Inc. reported a data breach after discovering that an unauthorized party had gained access to confidential consumer data stored on the company’s computer network. The breach occurred between October 13, 2022, and October 19, 2022, during which the unauthorized actor accessed and removed files containing sensitive information.

The compromised data included consumers’ names, Social Security numbers, and financial account information. Following the discovery of the breach, L. Knife & Son initiated an investigation, secured its network, and began sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals who were impacted by the security incident

The breach affected 14,337 individuals across the country, and L. Knife & Son offered a two-year membership to identity theft protection services provided by Experian to those impacted. The company also established a dedicated phone number for notification recipients to call for more information and took additional measures to enhance the security of its network
