Breach Description
Miracle-Ear, a Plymouth-based hearing aid company, experienced a security breach in its email system on October 24, which led to the compromise of 554 patient records. An unauthorized intruder gained access to the email account of an employee from Amplifon, the parent company that handles accounts and administrative work for subsidiaries like Miracle-Ear. The breach was discovered the following morning, and it was unclear whether the intruder actually accessed the patient records[1].
