Kryptiq Corporation

Kryptiq Corporation was an ambulatory EHR and practice management vendor that operated primarily in the late 1990s through the mid-2010s before being acquired by Allscripts Healthcare Solutions. Founded in 1999 as Kryptiq Corporation, the company positioned itself as a provider of integrated clinical and financial software solutions for physician practices and ambulatory care settings.

The platform combined electronic health record functionality with practice management capabilities, offering a unified system designed to handle both clinical documentation and revenue cycle operations. Core features included ambulatory EHR documentation, patient scheduling, e-prescribing through Surescripts connectivity, lab integration with major reference laboratories like Quest Diagnostics and LabCorp, patient portal access, billing and claims management, and meaningful use attestation support.

Kryptiq's target market consisted primarily of small to mid-sized physician practices across multiple specialties including primary care (family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics) and various specialties such as cardiology, orthopedics, dermatology, gastroenterology, and OB-GYN. The system was designed with specialty-specific templates and workflows to accommodate different clinical documentation needs.

The company achieved ONC certification for meaningful use requirements and maintained Surescripts certification for electronic prescribing. Integration capabilities included standard lab interfaces, health information exchange through Direct messaging and CCD/CCR document exchange, and connectivity with common billing and scheduling systems used in ambulatory settings.

In 2011, Allscripts acquired Kryptiq Corporation, integrating its technology and customer base into the broader Allscripts portfolio. Following the acquisition, existing Kryptiq customers were gradually migrated to other Allscripts platforms such as Professional EHR or Allscripts TouchWorks. The Kryptiq brand was eventually retired as Allscripts consolidated its ambulatory product offerings. As of 2024, Kryptiq no longer operates as an independent entity or active product line, and practices previously using Kryptiq have been transitioned to alternative EHR systems within the Allscripts family or have migrated to other vendors entirely.
