Acumen Physician Solutions, headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fresenius Medical Care North America, with development offices in Durham, North Carolina, and Danville, Virginia, supporting Acumen nEHR for Nephrologists. Acumen was established with the goal of creating and delivering user-friendly software tools to help nephrologists in their daily work.

Acumen EHR was built by nephrologists and made available through an internet-based, application service provider (ASP) paradigm. To drive workflow and efficiently expedite access to, storage of, and dissemination of patient treatment information into the Acumen system, Acumen partners with dialysis organizations and systems, hospitals, vascular access centers, laboratory systems, HIEs, and practice management systems.
